The Nether Lands Calling ...

And we leave. This time for a quick weekend break to Amsterdam, the purported land of dams and 'amsters.

We have a very ambitious travel schedule (like always) and essentially hope to cover in two days what a normal mortal with eight legs would do in five. I don't know about other travelers, but I always tend to under-pack the bags and over-load the schedule. I always figure there will be the odd trip that we decide to skip in favor of a new possible destination. And what was deodorant invented for anyway?

So the basic schedule right now runs through a family dinner tonight at Eindhoven (half-way through to Amsterdam), a canal cruise through the Amsterdamian dams, the Heineken Experience (something tells me come hell or fire-breathing dragons, my husband will not let this one be passed up), the Van Gogh museum (this looks the most prime to be knocked off - neither of us are particular fans), Dam Square (the much derided 'red light district' walk which we are told must be seen at least once), the Anne Frank House (where she hid out before they were betrayed - again, would like to see, but it seems there is a perpetual line of 2 hours waiting minimum to get in) and the Rijksmuseum, which houses a very enviable collection of the painting bigshots - Vermeers and Rembrandts - definite want-to-do.

And of course followed up by a trip to Delft, to meet up with some old friends. Phew. Of course would like to squeeze in a trip to the movies as well (lets see how you guys face up without having seeing any movies in English for months on end ... hmpfhf) and some interesting meals.

I know I know. Lets see how it all measures up. Next time with pictures.

Cheers
Sush
